Hello and welcome to day two of the Simon Says Stamp Summer Series here on my blog.
For today's card, I decided to create an 'almost' one layer card with some masking and embossing to show a fun way to use the word stamp and die sets.
The summer release includes both the 'Be' set and the 'Happy' set and there is also a 'You' set from a previous release. I love the possibilities with these and since I'm a text geek, I love how they look on a card. ;)
Be You

I wish you could see this card in person, because the photos don't really show the great detail in the embossed and inked circle. ;)
To create this card, I did the following:
- I cut a piece of eclipse masking paper the same size as the card front and then diecut a circle out of it so it was near the bottom and more to the right.
- I adhered the negative piece of the diecut masking paper to the card front, so that the only exposed part of the card with the actual circle area.
- I stamped a bunch of words from the 'Be Sentiment' Stamp set repeatedly throughout the circle with Versamark ink, and then heat embossed the entire thing with white embossing powder, leaving the mask in place.
- I then used a foam applicator and slowly added Pumice Stone Distress ink to the circle, applying it a little heavier on the outside of the circle and lighter in the middle. Then I added Tumbled Glass Distress ink in the middle of the circle to mix a little aqua into the grey colour. These two colours look so great together! ;)
- After I was done with all of the inking, I gently peeled away the mask and it left the awesome embossed/inked circle that makes up the focal point on the card.
- I added a strip of grey Shape N' Tape to the left side and rounded the corners on the right side.
- To complete the card, I diecut and adhered the 'Be' to the top left of the circle and added a few gems.
Please let me know if you have any questions on how this card was completed.
I hope this card inspires you to get out those text and sentiment stamps and use them in fun new ways! ;)
