Welcome to my stop on the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from the blog of the super talented, Nichol Magouirk!
To start things off, here is a little information about what STAMPtember is and how it came to be:
"Simon Says Stamp was founded in 2002 with an interest in exclusively selling rubber stamps. It didn’t take long until we realized we couldn’t stop there. During the past 11 years we celebrate rubber stamping in its full glory by giving access to people around the world to a one stop shop. Rubber stamps still remain the heart of our business and we are celebrating by hosting a “STAMPtember®” event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate the greatness of rubber stamping. Part of the enticement of rubber stamping is that stamps can be used in creating or complimenting ANYTHING! From stamping dates on bank documents and postage parcels in the early 18th century, rubber stamping has dramatically expanded to include card making, life documenting, art journaling, scrapbooking, mixed media and many forms of altering and expressing art."
To celebrate the 4th annual Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember event, we're 'hopping' along sharing some great projects featuring the new STAMPtember product releases!
It's one of the biggest releases to date and features new stamp sets, dies, flair and stencils - the newest addition to the Simon brand of products.
We're so excited that you are here to celebrate with us and we hope to inspire you at all stops along one of our biggest blog hops ever!
I have a few cards to share today. Two of them use one of my favourite new products from the release and the third features a fun technique using some of the great new die designs!
I love love the new nautical stamp sets and from the feedback we've been getting, it seems like you are all loving them as well! Especially the Naughty Nautical stamp set, which has a great ship image and some fun sayings. Most people who know me, know that I am no stranger to cuss words ;) so I couldn't wait to have some fun with this stamp set! ;)
Oh, Ship!
I Like People Who Cuss Like Pirates, Arr!
Supplies Used (on above two cards):
Another great part of this release, is the awesome new feather dies and word dies. I have been meaning to try a new technique to create the look of faux letterpress and knew these dies would be perfect for it.
This card is a little more artsy and a little more messy than I'm used to and I admit that when I was done, I kind of wanted to throw it out and start over from scratch. But I didn't, because a) it's a really cool technique, and b) sometimes its good to force yourself out of your normal creative comfort zone. So here it is... my messy (and super bright!) faux letterpress card:
Thanks
Supplies Used:
It's really hard to capture the debossing (which makes it look like letterpress) in photos, so you can check out the video below to see it in more detail.
Such a fun technique that can create so many fun looks. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
Please let me know if you have any questions at all on how I created any of these cards. ;)
