Today the September Card Kit was revealed at Simon Says Stamp and it is awesome!!
I always say this month is my new favourite and then the next month comes out and I change my mind. Seriously good stuff! ;)
The new kit is called Journey of Life and it features the great new Chalk Studio papers from My Mind's Eye as well as a Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp set and another new Simon Says Stamp stencil!
I knew I wanted to do something fun with the chalkboard papers, so I chose one out of the 6x6 pad that has the 'You Are My Sunshine' saying and decided to make that the focus of the card.
You Are My Sunshine
Supplies:
A little about the card -
- I cut down the patterned paper so I just had a strip with the chalkboard sentiment and then I used distress inks to add colour to the white chalkboard letters.
- I used Tsukineko sponges and lightly added the colours to the areas I wanted. I started with Broken China in the center, then blended out Shabby Shutters form the blue and finally added Squeezed Lemonade after the green.
- Once I had all the colours blended how I wanted them, I added some glittery shine with a Wink of Stella glitter marker over all of the letters.
- To finish off the card, I mounted the sentiment panel onto a card base covered with one of the great patterned papers in the kit and then I added a yellow gem to the sun.

ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie! Well...I feel like a real dummy..I've been searching and searching for the stamp you used for the card...found it odd that you hadn't put a link to it, like you always do for a list of supplies you used..,and then!! I actually read the part where you wrote that you used the patterned paper for your focal!! I sometimes amaze myself..for being an idiot! It pays to read..instead of getting all excited to go buy...buy... Lol! Anyway I thought I'd share that lovely brain fart...super great card! Can't wait to get my kit and see the FAB patterned paper in it!! Lol!! Have a great day!!
