Hello and welcome to my stop on the Simon Says Stamp + Kelly Purkey Project Kit Blog Hop!!
You should have arrived here from the blog of the talented May Flaum! ;)
Confession: I love the Kelly Purkey project kits even though I don't do project life and I rarely scrapbook these days. As a cardmaker, I always see so much possibility with these kits because they are jam packed with awesome product that has that great KP style and can be adapted to cards so easily! ;)
For my post, I decided to show the three main ways I 'look' at the product in the kits when I first get them, to plan out my card designs. The result is always cards I love, with varying styles.
1. The Stamp Set
I am a stampy cardmaker, which simply means that I stamp on almost every card I create. ;)
Stamps and ink make me happy so these kits are great because there is always an exclusive stamp set in them. I usually go for the stamp set first and think of ways I can incorporate the stamps into my cards designs.
August 2013
I decided to use the stamps to create a fun, unique birthday card. The month stamp and the individual letters work great together for someone with an August birthday. And to make it even more personalized, I added the cut out arrow from one of the patterned papers in the kit and added the number 11 to reflect the actual date of the recipients birthday. ;)
All of it was stamped on one of the 3x4 cards that came in the kit, and adhered to a Hero Arts notecard from my stash. I also repeatedly stamped the August stamp image on the card base in pool coloured ink to give the card a little more dimension.
2. Kit Product Only
I love to challenge myself to only use product that comes in the kit, especially some of the fun embellishments.
It's fun to play around with the different 3x4 cards while pairing them up with the badges, stickers and sequins! ;)
Today
For this card, I started out with the 3x4 card and 'built' my card from there. I let the pre-printed design on the card inspire the overall card design and just added little bits and pieces from there. Super quick and easy card that looks like it took a long time to create.
That's one of the great things about the kits - they make it so easy to make quick and easy cards that look great! ;)
3. Kit Product + A Little Extra
Once I've worked with the kit and made some cards as outlined above, I like to look at the product and think of ways I can add to what's already there with product from my stash.
Just because it all comes together in a kit, doesn't mean you're limited to use it like that. I definitely recommend adding to it for some completely different cards designs! ;)
She Said / He Said
I admit it... I haven't used a rub-on in years. But when I saw the awesome Jenni Bowlin rub-ons that came in the kit, I knew I wanted to use them on a card. I love the 'She Said' and 'He Said' and knew right away that I wanted to use some of my wood veneer 'potty people' with them.
I added a sentiment from the stamp set to complete the design and a bit of glitter with a Sakura glitter pen.
Supplies :
So three fun and different cards, created with the awesome products from the kit. I love how I can get so many different looks, just by using the products in different ways! ;)
In addition to the Project Kits that come out every other month, there is also an entire line of exclusive Kelly Purkey product at Simon Says Stamp. You can check out all of the great stamps, stencils, dies, stickers, sequins, etc... that are available here.
