My Craft Area

Happy Sunday!!

I have had a few requests to share my craft room and I have been trying to do a video for the past couple weeks, but just haven't had the time. So I decided to do a photo tour of my craft area to show you want works for me and how I have things set up.

This post ended up being super long and wordy.... sorry!

First things first - I live in a cottage style house that has enough rooms for people and no little nooks or spaces that I can use as a craft area. So I have taken over a corner in the master bedroom as my craft space. And I have to admit, that even though it's smaller than having a whole room, I like that I can still hang out with hubby when I'm crafting and he's watching TV. ;)

I have changed and rearranged things in my area a lot over the years to get it to this point, and I am finally 98% happy with the setup. I am very OCD when it comes to how everything is arranged and now that I have it like this, I find changing things around very hard. It usually takes me a few weeks to adjust when I try something new, so I don't do it very often lol!

I've had the corner desk that I use, for years and years. It's old and definitely looks kind of beat up, but its works so great in a small space because it has so many shelves and things to store stuff. ;)

So here is a view of the whole area from me standing on the bed ;)
I have also added some close-up photos below.
I added numbers to the main photo so I can explain further below how I have it arranged...

1. Bookshelf
I found these plastic CD holders at Walmart a couple of years ago and when you line them up side by side, 3 fit perfectly on each of the shelves of the bookcase - love that! I have 15 in total and most of them hold my stamps and dies. (see below for a close-up photo of my stamp and die storage which was inspired by Jennifer McGuire and her awesome storage ideas!)
A few others hold my 6x6 paper pads, my Hero Arts notecards, my twine and my Sizzix dies.
The bottom shelf holds a bunch of my most used colours of 8.5 x 11 cardstock (mostly neutrals), some stacked bins filled with embellishments and stuff, my bigger Tim Holtz stamp sets and my Faber-Castell markers. Oh and my garbage can sits in front lol! ;)

2. Top of Desk: Left Side
Top shelf - the top shelf of the desk holds my lamp, a couple of storage bins, a box of envelopes and my baby wipes. I usually have a display of cards on this shelf too that I've either created or received.
Middle shelves - these little shelves are about 6" x 7" in size and they fit those blue baskets perfectly. Those baskets hold a bunch of 'wet' stuff like my mists, paints, ink refills, gesso, etc... The one on the far right holds a bunch of tools and things.
Bottom shelf - the bottom holds some of my most used things - my marker stand (I got it from a scrapbook store I used to work at) that holds my Copic markers, Distress markers, Memento markers and other random pens and stuff.
Beside that I have two smaller plastic drawer units that hold all of my most used inks. Mainly my Hero Arts Shadow inks and all of my go to inks like Versafine, Versamark, Memento/Hero Hues in black, Staz-on, Memories White, etc...
On top of the drawers I keep my most used stickles in a small container and my Fiskars stamp press and beside the drawers is my Neenah cardstock in both white and cream.

3. Top of Desk - Middle
Top shelf - the top shelf holds 3 plastic drawer units that hold random things like perfect pearls, gems and pearls, acrylic blocks and inks.
On top of those is my Distress Ink applicator spinner and my Crop-a-diles.
Middle shelf - the middle shelf is a big open area because it was meant to hold a computer monitor. I purchased the white buckets and rod from Ikea and attached them to the underside of the shelf with big hooks. They currently hold sequins in one and gelatos in the other. Under those, I have two plants from Ikea (real plants and me don't mix, so this is much much safer lol!!) and the fun tool holder that Jennifer McGuire recommended. I LOVE this holder and it fits so much stuff! All of my most used things are in here like my scissors, acrylic blocks, adhesives, stylus, tweezers, etc...
Bottom shelf - this area is pretty small, but I found some pretty shallow baskets that fit under here great. They hold cards in progress and all of my wood veneer potty people (I have alot!)

4. Top of Desk - Right Side
Top shelf - the top shelf holds a file folder container with hanging files. I keep specialty papers in here like watercolour paper, Simon Says Stamp woodgrain paper, vellum, etc..
In front of that I have all of my Distress Inks stacked and labelled so they are easily accessible since I use them so much. Sitting on them I have a long skinny basket that holds all of my extra foam applicator pieces.
Beside that I have another drawer unit that is full of more inks like Stampin' Up, Jenni Bowlin, Colorbox, etc... On top of that I have my Tim Holtz paint tray and my container of Tsukineko foam sponges.
Middle shelf - the next shelf down is another smaller space but I have baskets that fit in there perfectly. The blue basket is full of washi tape and the bigger gray basket has all of my most used adhesives in it (gluedots, foam dots, creative tape, etc..) It also holds my paint brushes - they are in a basket inside the bigger basket.
Bottom shelf - the bottom shelf is broken up into three areas. The tall area to the left holds all of my Hero Arts background stamps. It was originally meant to hold cds, but I took all of the cd holder things out when I realized how great the stamps fit in there. I have a few more less used ones stores elsewhere since this is full. ;)
The top area to the right holds a couple more bins with more supplies (glitters, embossing powders, stains, adhesives, etc... and it also holds all of my plates and stuff for my Big Shot.
The bottom area has a plastic 12x12 paper holder (from the scrapbook store I worked at) that holds favourite papers and my mini scoring board. Beside it are more 8.5 x 11 papers that I use more often.

5. Standing Table
This table is the perfect height for me to stand at. I have a cutting mat on both of my desks since I like to sit and stand when I craft, This gives me either option.
It holds my paper trimmer, another lamp and my big shot. Under it I have 2 rows of plastic 12x12 drawer units stacked on top of each other. These hold a ton a different things like wood stamps, my heat gun, pencil crayons, buttons, embellishments and letter stickers. I love how much I can store in these and it still looks neat and tidy.
I also have a couple of 12x12 paper holders and a hook to hang my rags onto so they're within easy reach.

6. Underneath the Desk
I have a bunch of drawers and bins on the shelves under my desk and on the floor in behind the chair.
Christmas bins, all of my punches, extra adhesives, ribbon, 12x12 paper holders, extra or less used inks, dies, stamps etc... so much stuff fits into this space and I love that its still within easy reach if I need it! ;)

Aside from this area I also have a bunch of bins and stuff packed into a closet. It's all less used stuff that I don't need all the time, but don't want to get rid of.

Here are a few close-up photos:

So that's my craft area!
It's a small space for sure, but with planning and finding ways to use all the space you have, you can definitely make it work and have enough space to keep all your crafty supplies.
Please let me know if you have any questions about my space or how I organize it. ;)

Thanks for stopping by -
Be back soon!

Steph ;)
