SSS November Card Kit

Hey everyone!!

The weather here is dreary and rainy as we wait for the possibility of Hurricane Sandy to affect us starting tomorrow later in the day. Not sure how much we'll get here but we're hoping and praying for everyone's safety that is in the path of this storm.

I officially declared a jammie day today and set aside some time to play with my Simon Says Stamp November Card kit

As soon as I saw this kit, I immediately thought of a layout I had started that was sitting on my desk waiting to be finished. I had the base of it started but nothing past that, and this kit had the perfect elements to give it the look that I wanted.

Just because these kits are created specifically with the card maker in mind does not mean that you can only use it to make cards. Last month I made wedding invitations and this month I decided to use it for a layout. And I love how it turned out!

For the last 3 years, my daughter has been the lead role in the school plays and every year I do a layout to document it. This year the play was 'Once Upon A Mattress' and Caitlyn was the princess. In all of her roles, singing has been a big part of her character, so this stamp set was perfect!! ;-)

And the colours and patterns of the papers were perfect for the look I was going for. I had ticket stubs and a background pocket page already picked out that worked so well together with this kit.

Once Upon A Mattress
(sorry the layout didn't photograph great... the above mentioned weather has left it dark here and not great for photographing projects)

The background page and the small text paper are the only things that didn't come from the kit. And that background page has a pocket at the bottom (its from KaiserCraft) and there is more pictures, programs, etc. tucked down in it. The top of the pocket is the dark brown music patterned paper.

Once I finished the layout, I had some left over pieces that didn't make it on to the layout so I decided to make a card.

What A Beautiful Day

For the butterflies on both the layout and the card, I stamped the large music patterned heart stamp and then diecut a butterfly out of it. Then I just added a button and twine to the centers. (for the card I used a button from my stash since I used the other two smaller ones form the kit on the layout)

Giveaway

Once again, the amazingly awesome Heidi at Simon Says Stamp has offered a November kit to one of my blog readers!! So just leave a comment on this post by 11:59pm on Sunday November 4th and I'll pick a random winner!!

Some Layouts and a Winner!

Hey everyone!!

I have a few layouts that went up on the Jillibean Soup blog recently that I wanted to share. The first was for a designer challenge. Jill wanted us to incorporate the new hexie stickers in a project. I loved this challenge because I love hexagons! ;-)

Fishing At The Pond

This next layout went up on the blog today and actually uses photos that I scrapbooked a long time ago. But the layout was coming apart and since these are some of my favourite photos, I decided to redo it.

Hey everyone!

I have a new layout up on the Jillibean Soup blog today featuring the 'Macho Nacho' collection - one of the newer releases. Wanted to pop in and share it here:

Study Hard

Supplies:

I love all the greens, blues and greys in this collection. Perfect for masculine pages but easily adaptable into any page theme.
And the chevron and hexagon patterns are so fun!! I am completely in love with hexagons and love when I am able to incorporate them into a project.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I'll be back tomorrow with my montly 'A Blog Named Hero' post. I have a couple of new cards to share inspired by some Hero Artists. :-)

Layout Share

Hey there!

Relaxing watching the season opener of Dancing With The Stars (love the team of Cheryl and William!) and thought I'd pop in and share a layout I created for the Jillibean Soup blog this month. I had a few photos on my phone from the hospital when Caitlyn broke her arm in the fall, and even though they are terrible quality (phone camera + hospital lighting) I really wanted to get them on a layout.

1st Hospital Visit

Full supplies used on this layout can be found on the Jillibean Soup blog here.

Ok.... off to watch more dancing. Anyone have a favourite team of dancers yet?  It's been a great season premiere so far.... I think it's going to be a good season!! :-)

Easter Morning

Yep.... a little early for Easter but I wanted to share this layout I did for the Jillibean Soup blog this month. We were challenged to work with Jillibean Soup's bakers twine so I decided to cover a diecut easter egg with it.

Easter Morning

I just covered the egg with glossy accents and then added the twine in pieces until the whole egg was covered. Really easy to do and adds a fun handmade embellishment to a layout.

In other news, CHA assignments are done and shipped. Looking forward to seeing all the new stuff thats coming out at the beginning of next week.  Always an exciting time for this hobby! :-)
Jillibean Soup has shown the sneaks of their new lines and products (which are awesome!!!) on their blog this past few weeks. Check it out here to see everything.

And also just wanted to update that my Project Life is going great and is completely up to date. I'm just thinking I probably won't share every week here as planned. I'll do a PL post every couple of weeks and share some of what I have been doing. But I am really loving this project and so glad I decided to do it. Its amazing how many little moments you capture that you otherwise wouldn't.

Be back soon!

Project Life 2012 | Week One

Sorry I am a little late in posting week one of my Project Life. The weekend ended up a little busier than planned and I have been busy working away on CHA assignments. (The big crafting tradeshow that happens twice a year. Jillibean Soup has some really awesome stuff coming out this release! I'll share some of the sneaks in the next day or two.

And now onto Project Life. About a month before Christmas I decided that I really wanted to do Project Life this year. And it is sooo popular right now and after a couple I weeks I can see why! It has reminded me so much why I started scrapbooking and why I love it so much! And while I still love my layouts and will continue to create them, this approach is so stress free, easy and fun! It's a little ridiculous how excited I get each week when I pick up my developed photos for the past week. (I was originally going to print all of my photos at home on my Epson Artisan but I decided to send them to get developed instead and am really happy with doing it this way. I just upload my prints, pick them up the next day on my way home from work and it costs like $2 depending on how many photos I have for the week)

So here is Week One:

I am hoping to get on a schedule of posting my Project Life for the past week on Saturdays.

Be back soon!
