Art Journal Page - Courage Is...

Hello!

Today I have something a little different to share with you. Awhile back, I came across Vicky Papaioannou's art journal pages and I fell in love instantly! I have always loved Vicky's cardmaking style and never thought that art journaling was something I wanted to do. I am, by no means, an artist and I always felt very overwhelmed by the idea.

But watching Vicky (and a few other artists) create page after page of beautiful art journaling, totally inspired me to want to create my own. I figured even if I sucked at it, I would still enjoy the process of creating, so I decided to give it a try.

So today I am sharing my first art journal page, and I actually really like how it turned out! I'm guessing that may not always be the case, but I loved the creative process and I'm already thinking of ideas for my next page!

Courage Is...

Here are a few close-ups of the journal pages...

A little about my process and the supplies I used:

- I played with product a lot in an art journal that I have officially named my 'practice journal' before I began my actual journal. I think this really helped me lose my nervousness about starting, because I got familiar with the products and what techniques I liked and didn't like.

- I purchased the same journal that Vicky uses (I just got black instead of red) because I love the size, the design and the rounded corners. I LOVE this Moleskine journal and will definitely continue using them for art journaling. Great quality!

- I love words and music and I'm pretty sure that all of my pages will start with a quote and/or a song lyric that I love. I love that I have found a way to incorporate my love for words into my creativity!

- I used a lot of products that I already had (those potty people are old old Quickutz dies that I found in a drawer!) but I also purchased some new stuff to be able to do some techniques that I saw others doing. For example, I love how Vicky adds Tim Holtz tissue paper to her pages before beginning and did that on this page. I like the subtle detail it gives the pages in the background once you cover it with all the paints and stuff.

Supplies:

I will definitely try and film my process the next time I create a page. It's a good thing I didn't with this one because it took me awhile to create it lol! It would have been a pretty long video! ;)

Please let me know if you have any questions at all about anything on my page. A huge thank you to Vicky for sharing her pages and being so inspiring!

Thanks for stopping by today -
Be back soon!

Steph ;)
