Hello and welcome to the My Favorite Things new product launch!! All of the awesome products we've been sharing all week are officially available in the MFT store now! I can't wait to see what's on everyone's must have list and the awesome creations you all make! So fun! ;)
I have two cards to share tonight that use the new Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax die-namics. I love how great these go with gift cards, and I wanted to show a couple of different ways they can be used to create fun, unique gift card holders.
The first card I created is made with the second to largest rectangle from the set to create the actual card. I cut it from a piece of scored and folded Sno Cone cardstock and made sure that when I cut it out, I didn't cut out the top edge of the card where the fold is.
By cutting it out this way, I get the fun rounded corners and stitching detail, but I also get a folded card that I can tuck a gift card and message inside. Before adding the gift card, I wanted to add some detail to the card, so I used the Snowfall Background stamp and white embossing powder to add snow. I also cut out a couple of snow hills from the Stitched Snow Drifts die-namics and adhered them to the card.
The trick to cutting the snow hills, is to first cut out the same rounded rectangle as the card base from white cardstock, and then cutting a snow hill from each end. That ensures that the snow hills fit perfectly on the bottom of the card and don't lose any of the stitching. ;)
For the focal point of the card, I used the Santa from the Christmas Cuteness stamp set, coloured him with Copic markers and adhered him onto the card front so it looked like he was standing in the snow. And since it was a coffee gift card that I was including, I thought the sentiment I used from the Perk Up stamp set was perfect! ;)
I added a removable glue dot to the inside of the card and adhered the gift card on top. I love how perfectly they fit in this rectangle shape, especially with the rounded corners.
For my second card, I decided to create a pocket on the front of the card to hold my gift card. I used the same size rectangle as my first card and cut it out of white cardstock. I cut it a second time and diecut another stitched snow hill to use on this card, and adhered it to the bottom.
Since the rectangle is a little too long for the gift card to peek out of as is, I used my paper trimmer and cut off about 1/2" from the top. I love the straight edge at the top and think it adds a fun contrast to all of the rounded corners and stitching detail.
I cut out a second rectangle from vellum with the largest rectangle die and adhered that directly to the card. To make sure I could tuck the gift card inside, I made sure to only add adhesive to the bottom and side outside edges of the white piece so it formed a pocket. Once I had that adhered on, I added the sentiment from the Gifting Fun stamp set.
I thought the polar bear from the new Cool Day stamp set was perfect for the space on the card front, so I stamped and diecut him and coloured him with some deep purples and aqua colours. I decided to add some detail to the mug he's holding by diecutting a tiny heart from the Smart Phone die-namics and adhering it directly on top.
