MFT | 5 Days to an Organized Crafty Stash: Stamps

Hello! This week, My Favorite Things is sharing all kinds of fun organizational tips and tricks for organizing your crafty stash including stamps, stencil, dies, cardstock and ink! Each day will feature a different product and will include ideas for storage, organization and keeping everything in a system that works for you!

The MFT Creative team will be taking part all week long, sharing what we use to organize and what works for us. Hopefully once the week is done, you'll have a lot if different ideas to help you get organized and ready to create!

Today's post is all about stamp storage! I love stamps and have clear, cling and wood stamps in my collection. My wood stamps are stored in a drawer (I don't have a lot of them) and my cling and clear are stored in Sterilite mini crates that fit on my bookshelf perfectly!

I store all of my clear stamps in the MFT Large Clear storage pockets. I cut down cheap cardstock that I get from the my local office supply store, to fit inside and then I put my stamps in front so I can easily see what they are when I flip through them.

The My Favorite Things large storage pockets come in packs of 50 and are a good sturdy material that hold stamps perfectly! The taller MFT stamps sets are too tall to store in these pockets if you want to be able to close the flaps. To get around this and keep everything the same size in my storage containers, I add the stamps from those sets to my own acetate pieces cut to 5" x 7" and they fit perfectly in the pockets.

I have never had a problem getting all of the stamps onto one piece of acetate. Once I have them all on the new acetate piece, I cover them all with ink and stamp the whole thing on my backing cardstock so I can see easily see the images and sentiments. Works perfectly if you want to keep your storage all the same size. ;)

Once I have all of my stamps in pockets, I label them all with my Brother handheld label maker. I love this thing... super affordable and creates all the labels I need with ease. I generally use the 12mm tape (black on white) for my stamp, stencil and die storage, and the 6mm for my ink storage - more on that later this week! ;)

I always type the manufacturer name on the top of the label and the stamp set name underneath. I usually create a bunch of labels at once to save on label tape - the trick to using less tape when using this Brother label maker is to set the margins to 'chain print' before printing the labels.

I add the labels to the top left corner of the storage pockets and then store them all in the mini crates that I shared above. This system works awesome for my clear stamps and I can fit so many in the containers that I use. I love this system! ;)

Another stamp love is 6x6 cling background stamps! I love that you can use these either vertically or horizontally on card. I store these in the same containers as my clear stamps, but I don't put them into storage pockets. I just add them into the containers with the stamp pattern facing forward and I label the back of them the same way I label my clear stamps, with manufacturer and stamp name.

So that's a little peek into how I store my stamps. Make sure to head over to the My Favorite Things blog today (and all week long) for a lot of ideas, links to the other MFT Creative Teams blogs where they're sharing their storage ideas, and awesome amazing giveaways!! It's going to be a great week! ;)

  14. Did you used to use the pockets that Simon Says Stamp sold...is it by Avery Elle? If so, how do the MFT pockets differ? Are the sizes the same? Is the weight of the plastic the same?

    1. The MFT ones are a tiny bit wider, but other than that they seem to be pretty much the same. ;)
