Paper Doll Layout | February 2015

Hello! Today I have my February paper doll layout to share! Nothing like leaving it until the very last hour on the very last day of the month lol! ;)

Last month when I created my page, I used a quote from a favourite movie and I've decided to continue doing that on my pages going forward. I love movies and TV and thought it would be kind of fun to think of different quotes every month and incorporate the movie (or TV show) into my paper doll layouts.

I knew I wanted to use the new Julie Nutting paper doll stamps this month and I really wanted to use a man and a woman doll since it's the month of love! ;) I decided to use Adam and Jill and base this month's layout on the movie Pretty Woman... the Jill doll reminds me so much of Vivian! ;)

I started off by first stamping and dressing my dolls. The Adam doll (aka Edward Lewis lol!) and the suit he is wearing are actually separate stamps. I love that you can get the dolls now with clothes that fit on top! I stamped the dolls on text paper and then stamped their clothes on different pieces of patterned papers from my stash.

I made the suit a dark grey colour and added a white and grey striped shirt and an aqua coloured tie. I just stamped each piece and then cut them apart and pieced them all back together. I made Jill's (aka Vivian's) clothes as close as possible as I could to the movie. I stamped the skirt on a patterned paper that looked similar to her actual shirt and kept the top of it white.

I stamped her boots onto black paper and then I covered them in Black Wink of Stella and then completely coated them in Glossy Accents to give them that shiny leather look. If I had a small enough safety pin, I would have added that too! ;)

Once I had all of their clothes stamped and glued on, I cut them both out and set them aside while I created my background.

I wanted it to be a nighttime scene since they met at night in the movie so I used a starry sky background paper and layered some vellum over top so my dolls didn't get lost on the finished page.

I then printed one of my favourite quotes from the movie (In case I forget to tell you later, I had a really good time tonight.) on some patterned paper and diecut the stitched edges for the ground pieces. I adhered them on and added some heart stamping for some additional detail and to play on the love theme of the page.

I added a diecut ladder to replicate the fire escape from the scene at the end of the movie and then I adhered my dolls to the page. I positioned him against the ladder to make it look like he was leaning on it and then added her as the focal point.

I finished the page with some jewellery on her - the new Say It With Crystals are one of my new favourites! They come in black, white, clear and gold and are the perfect addition to dress up the dolls! I also added some sequins and silver stickles to the background for a little more detail and dimension.

You can see how I created the page in the video below:

I'll be back next month with a page for March! Thanks for stopping by! ;)
