Fishbowl Card with Hair Gel

Hello! Today I have a fun card to share that uses the My Favorite Things Fishbowl die-namics and hair gel to create a fun card that looks like it actually has water in it. I love trying new things on my cards and hair gel is definitely something I haven't tried before lol!

I was surprised at how easy it is to add it to a card and how realistic it looks! Just something fun to experiment with to change things up a bit. And the finished card smells really good too haha! ;)

You can use hair gel to create any type of card that you want the look of water - it would look really cool for a vase of flowers! All you need is a zip lock bag that will fit in the area that you want the water to be and a die to cut out the opening in the shape you want.

I diecut the inside of the fishbowl from the front of a card base and then diecut it from a white cardstock panel as well. I then diecut the outside of the fishbowl and adhered it around the opening on the white cardstock piece and the inside of the card base.

I filled the ziplock bag with hair gel, pushed out all the air bubbles, smoothed it out and then sealed it closed. I then adhered it directly to the back of the white cardstock panel piece making sure all of the edges were evenly spaced around the fishbowl opening.

I added foam adhesive to the back of the panel around the opening (completely covering it for extra stability) and then I adhered it to the card front, making sure I had the opening of the fishbowl lined up perfectly with the one diecut from the card base. This completely encloses the gel bag and makes it look like a fishbowl of water!

I diecut a third fishbowl and the accent pieces and created the fishbowl scene for the inside of the card. The fish are from an older Wplus9 stamp set (I think it's discontinued now) that I stamped and coloured with Copic markers. Once I had the fishbowl done, I adhered it to the inside of the card, lining it up with the card front.

When the card is closed, it looks like the fishbowl is filled with water. Such a fun, unique look for a card that was a lot of fun to make! I don't think I would send a card like this through the mail since one little puncture would be disatrous lol! But it would be great to hand deliver to someone! ;)

Thanks for stopping by today! Let me know if you have any questions about how I created the card! Can't wait to see what everyone creates!
