Paper Doll Layout | May 2015

Hello! Today I have my May 2015 paper doll layout to share.... in June lol! I got a little behind last month and didn't get a chance to get my page finished so I apologize that this is going up a little later than usual.

This month I decided to use a quote from the movie The Little Mermaid. I love Disney movies and this one is definitely a favourite, and the Sea Sally paper doll stamp is the perfect image to use for Ariel! ;)

I stamped the mermaid image onto text paper and coloured her skin and hair with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. I then stamped and cut out pieces of DCWV glitter paper for her top and fins. I love how close in colour I was able to get the green and purple to what Ariel actually looks like in the movie.

Once I had Ariel all pieces together and get out, I added Distress inks to the background piece that I had the quote printed on. I started with Tumbled Glass but it was a little too light so I ended up adding Mermaid Lagoon to the whole thing. I went really lightly over the quote so it didn't get too lost in the background.

I stamped a crab from a Lawn Fawn stamp set and a fish from a Simon Says Stamp stamp set and coloured them both in with Copic markers with colours as close to the actual characters as I could. I then cut them out with scissors along the stamped edge and adhered them onto the layout with Ariel.

To create the sand at the bottom of the layout I used a piece of patterned paper from a Carta Bella 6x6 paper pad and diecut the edge with the Stitched Snow Drifts dies from My Favorite Things. To complete the underwater scene, I diecut some grass pieces from green patterned paper and adhered them in the sand.

When I coloured in Ariel's hair, I accidentally coloured in the little headband piece thinking it was part of her hair. I decided to add some clear gems across it to give her some bling and cover up the fact that it's not her hair lol!
