MFT August Release Countdown | Day 4

Hello and welcome to day four of the My Favorite Things August release countdown! The Polynesian Paradise stamp set being revealed today is one of my favourites from the August release. I love all of the great images that are included and the sentiments can be used on all kinds of different card designs!

To create my card I stamped the girl, bird and flower images on smooth white cardstock and coloured them in with Copic markers. I decided to cut them out with my scissors rather than using the coordinating dies so I wouldn't have a white border around them... sometimes I prefer to cut them out right on the stamped line.

I also stamped a second girl, coloured in the flower in her hair and cut it out so I could adhere it on the original girl with some foam adhesive for dimension.

I created the background scene by cutting out a Double Stitched Oval twice from smooth white cardstock. I cut out the sand (Stitched Snow Drifts die-namics) and water (wave doe-namics) pieces from each end of one of the ovals so they would both have the stitched detail on them. I added ink to both pieces to colour them in and then adhered them to the second oval that I had already covered with Summer Splash ink.

I adhered the oval onto my card base and then added all of the images on top. Before adding the girl and flowers, I stamped a greeting onto a black strip of cardstock, white heat embossed it and adhered it to the sand.

Thanks so much for stopping by for day 4 of the MFT August Release countdown! The new release products will officially be available on the My Favorite Things website on August 4th at 10pm EST!

  5. Your card is so vibrant and pretty....just love it. I know what you mean about the white border that's created when cutting with coordinating dies...to remedy that, I use a very light grey or blue Copic marker and color the white border...kind of creates a shadow effect. When I fussy cut images out, I take a water based marker in black or dark grey and color the white edges. Works well for me. TFS your talent. Jan D., FL
