MFT Creative Construction with Blueprints | November 2015

Hello and welcome to the November My Favorite Things Creative Construction with Blueprints challenge.

The hustle and bustle of the season doesn’t allow us as much play time as we’d like. Fortunately for us devoted crafters, there’s still ample opportunity to put those supplies to good use. This month, we're using Blueprints to create pretty packaging for the humble gift card.

I wanted to share some ways that I use the gift card I'm giving as inspiration in the presentation. Giving gift cards doesn't have to be boring... the sky is the limit when it comes to fun gift card packaging!

I decided to create the package inspired by the gift card rather than using traditional holiday colours and designs. The iTunes card I am giving is aqua and purple so the first thing I did was to choose my cardstock to match and compliment the gift card colours.

To create the actual folded card that the gift card is in, I diecut a white cardstock piece with the large stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 25 Die-namics, scored it down the center and folded it in half. I used the Gift Card Grooves Die-namics to hold the card in place and then adhered the entire folded piece to a Sno Cone cardstock panel cut slightly larger.

I really wanted to keep the colours of the gift card visible when it was closed  so I decided to add a circle cut out of the front. This allowed the apple to show through as well which made it even more fun! I cut the circle from white with a stitched circle from the Tag Builder Blueprints 4 Die-namics.

I then created the grey panel to go on the front by cutting a stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 24 Die-namics (which is slightly smaller than the 25 rectangle) and then cutting it down to fit the front. I added a larger circle cut out using the Circle Stax dies and then embossed the Balloon Strings pattern on it before adhering it to the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Keep on Rockin' stamp set with black ink onto the stitched banner from Blueprints 25 and then adhered it over the open circle so that when the card is closed, you don't see the bite out of the apple. I thought it ended up looking really cool! To finish it off I added some aqua sequins and silver stickles.

Make sure to head over to the MFT blog to see what the rest of the creative team has created for this months challenge! ;)
