MFT January Card Kit Release!

Hello and welcome to my release post for the  My Favorite Things January 2017 card kit, No Place Like Home. This month's kit is officially available now in the MFT online store!

For my card tonight, I wanted to go a little out of the box with my design and do something a little different. So I pulled out my distress inks and created a sunset. I masked off the horizon line and a circle for the moon and then I added orange and yellow distress inks and then blues to the top part of the sky.
Once I had the sky area done, I took off the masks and covered the sky so I could create a snow covered ground at the bottom. I used blue and grey inks to create the look of snow in the dark, and then I added some yellow to the area of the snow under the moon. I also added a bit of black ink along the horizon line so it wouldn't be completely straight across.

I diecut one of the houses and three of the tree trunks from black cardstock and adhered them to the scene so they would look like silhouettes. I then used a dark grey marker and added shadows onto the snow coming from the house and trees.

To finish the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set onto the bottom area of the snow with Black Licorice dye ink. Not sure that I totally love the card in the end, but I loved experimenting and using the kit in a fun, unexpected way!

Make sure to head over to the MFT Blog for more ideas using this months kit. And don't forget that it's now available in the online store here, while supplies last.
