Courage Card

Hello and happy Saturday!

It's a long weekend here in Canada and the weather is perfect! But before I head out to enjoy it, I wanted to share a card I created using some great products from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft along with some great stamps from Tim Holtz and Hero Arts.

I am usually not an artsy cardmaker. Not because I don't like to play with product and get messy, but because my ideas don't usually come out onto the paper the same way they look in my head lol! ;)

But the great products from Faber-Castell make it a little easier to get great results and for once, a card turned out exactly like I envisioned it! And surprisingly, I love it! ;)

Supplies:

Here is a little photo tutorial explaining how I created the card:

Stamp Hero Arts background stamp onto white Neenah cardstock with Versamark and emboss with clear embossing powder.

Colour on three shades of gelatos (I used a blue, yellow and pink) and and rub into paper with finger. Once the entire piece is coloured and blended, wipe the entire piece with a damp cloth to remove any excess gelato on the embossed areas.

Once you decide what stamp image you want to use, apply a thin layer of gesso (so the colours still show through slightly)  in an area roughly the shape of the stamped image (go slightly larger) and let dry. Once dry, stamp image directly over the gesso area. For a more blended stamped image (the look I was going for) hold the inked stamp in place a little longer to let the ink soak in.

Add embellishments to complete the card. I added wood veneer birds that I coloured with a green big brush stampers marker and iridescent sequins.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the creation of this card. ;)

  1. This is one of my go-to Gelato techniques - love how easy it is to change up the look by just using different colors!

I would never have thought to Gesso the area for the sentiment. *files away for future reference*
