Round Here: The Sky Is The Limit

Today's card features a technique that I like to refer to as inset stamping. Not sure if that's actually a thing but I think it sounds pretty good lol! ;)

To create this card, I first did all of the diecutting on the top layer of cardstock. I used the Lawn Fawn Blue Skies stamp and dies (one of my all time favourite Lawn Fawn sets!) and adhered the balloon and cloud dies to the cardstock panel with washi tape once I decided where I wanted them.

I ran them through my Big Shot one at a time so I could overlap the die cut area and make it look like one die cut out the entire thing. So the actual diecut areas are both of the balloons, the bottom left cloud and the cloud farthest to the right.

Once I had the diecutting done, I laid the diecut piece on a second piece of white cardstock (slightly smaller than the first) and very lightly traced around where the images were. Once I was done, I removed the top piece and carefully stamped each of the balloons and clouds inside the traced area.

Before I did the stamping, I created a mask for each of the balloons since I had images that overlapped. I stamped the large balloon first, masked it off and then stamped the smaller balloon. I then masked that one off and stamped the clouds.

I coloured in all of the images with Copic markers, added white stitched lines to the balloons and stamped on the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Blue Skies Ahead stamp set. I then added foam adhesive all over the back of the top piece (making sure to completely go around the edges of the diecut area) and then adhered it directly over top of the stamped design.

Once it's all adhered, the stamped area is actually inset on the card because the diecut area is raised by the foam adhesive. To create a little more dimension, I added two clouds to the raised piece so that some of them were inset an some weren't.

Just a really fun way to create unexpected dimension that you can do with pretty much any stamp and die combination. ;)
