Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® Blog Hop!!

Hello and welcome to my stop on the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® blog hop! I am so excited to be here sharing some of the newest products on a fun holiday card that I created!

I love the Road Trip stamp and die set that were released a couple of months ago as part of the This Is The Life release, so when I saw that there was a coordinating holiday stamp set coming out to go with it, I was a bit excited lol!! I love that the trees can sit on the top of the station wagon! ;)

When I started my card, I created the station wagon first and then built it from there. I stamped and copic coloured the car a beige colour and then I added a piece of wood design patterned paper for the side panel. To make it look even more realistic, I added some textured Goosebumps to it. It gives it the perfect amount of texture and shine to make it look like real wood!

Once I had the car done, I stamped and coloured the larger tree to go on top. I knew as soon as I saw the tree that rather than stamp it straight, I wanted to bend the top of it so it would hang down in front of the window lol! Totally a Griswold car happening here! ;)

Once the tree was coloured and cut out (there are matching dies but I didn't use them since I stamped the tree different than the actual stamp), I glued it on top of the car and then added some twine around the whole thing to make it look like the tree was tied down to the car. ;)

I also added some white Ranger Texture Paste to the top parts of the tree to mimic snow. I love that the texture paste gives both texture and dimension.

To create the rest of the scene, I stamped some more trees (all straight), coloured them and then added them to the background to look like the tree lot. I put three of them under a vellum piece to mute them (and the sky patterned paper) and then added one on top of the vellum. The one on top also has some of the texture paste on it to look like snow.

I diecut the road with the On The Road die and just used the road portion of it for the car to drive on. To make it look like a snow covered road, I added Unicorn White pigment ink with a sponge dauber in random areas on the road. I love how realistic it looks!!

To complete the card, I added some of the birds from the stamp set and also stamped the greeting "Home for the Holidays" along the bottom.

I love love how fun these stamps and dies are and how they remind you of holidays spent as a kid. So excited to make more holiday cards like this that are sure to bring smiles and bring back memories!

  8. Good Lord. The scene is just amazing. I love the tree on wagon, i have this personal grief for the trees that were cut. We used to have this giant oak tree in our backyard, that my father had to cut because the neighbours were complaining that tree was blocking the sun. I literally cried for 3 days. And still misses that adorable tree.
Thank you for sharing your card and reminding of my first love :)
