Paper Doll Layout | January 2015

Hello! Today I have my first paper doll art journal page to share for 2015! My awesome friend Nichol is a fellow paper doll lover and last year she created monthly layouts featuring her paper dolls. I loved the idea - especially because I love creating the dolls but then never know what to do with them lol! ;)

I decided to let her inspire me to create monthly pages for 2015. My plan is to create pages with favourite quotes or sayings, that kind of pertain to the month I'm creating them for. So for this first page, I did a new year's theme. ;)

This layout features the doll in a swing dress and I created a new year's eve scene in New York city. I thought it would be cool to have her standing in front of the buildings and the ball before it dropped to mark the new year.

I used lot's of glitter and gems on this page, since I think it goes so well with new year's theme! It's one of my favourite nights of the year and I really wanted to try and capture the magic of it on this page.

I created the doll first and paper pieced her together with some patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and some DCWV glitter paper. I wanted her to look festive and like she was ready for a night of fun lol! ;)

I didn't add a title to this page, but I did add a quote. I've shared this quote on my blog a couple of times because I really love it at the start of the new year. I am a sucker for romantic comedies and New Year's Eve is a great one! I love the scene when Claire says this speech. I think they're some really great words to live by so I thought they would be perfect for this page. ;)

You can see how I created this page in the video below:

I'll be back next month with a page for February! Thanks so much for stopping by! ;)

  7. I watched these in YT before and I don't know if I commented, so I am re-watching from the beginning of the year, and I wanted to say how much I love this page! I have a Silhouette machine I have never used, and I love that you were able to print and cut those city skylines on yours. Maybe I need a class from you? 😛
