Hello and welcome to day 5 of the My Favorite Things April release countdown!! This month's release is full of great spring themed stamps and dies and sweet treats too! Now we just need the weather to cooperate and bring us some sunshine. We still have snow in our weather forecast here in Canada, so these new products make me happy and excited for spring!
I created two cards today using the new Sweet Treats Die-namics and the You're the Sweetest stamp set. I love how fun it is to create fun cool treats with these dies and stamps!
For my first card I created a double scoop ice cream cone using the Sweet Treats dies. I diecut the ice cream scoop twice from white cardstock and then covered them with embossing paste mixed with re-inkers in Summer Splash (my absolute favourite colour!) and Razzle Berry. It's so easy to add colour to white embossing paste using re-inkers and I love how realistic the ice cream looks! ;)
I cut out the cone from Brown Paper Bag cardstock and added a shim so I got a really good embossed impression and then I embossed a pierced border around the ice cream cone using the Stitched Rectangle Stax dies. I just used a rubber mat in my embossing machine instead of a cutting plate so it would emboss rather than cut.
I stamped a sentiment from the You're the Sweetest stamp set and adhered the finished panel to a piece of Razzle Berry cardstock. I then stamped and clear heat embossed the new Simply Circles background stamp to a Grout Gray card base and adhered the ice cream panel with foam adhesive.
For my second card I created a frozen treat using the Sweet Treats dies and Summer Splash cardstock. To make it look more realistic I added glossy accents over the whole thing so it had dimension and shine. I also added clear glitter before the glossy accents because every frozen treat needs to have sparkle, right?!? ;)
I cut the stick out of a piece of wood paper I had in my stash and added the frozen treat on top once the glossy accents was dry. I embossed a rectangle into the cardstock like the card above, but for this one I used the Stitched Rectangle Frames die. I love the subtle detail you get when you emboss with a die rather than cutting with it.
I stamped the sentiment with black ink and adhered the finished panel to a piece of Summer Splash cardstock. I added a piece of vellum in between and then adhered the whole thing to a white card base.
I completed both cards by adding clear sequins and silver stickles. I love the extra detail and dimension that the sequins give the finished card. ;)
