Simon Says Stamp Summer Series - Day Five!

Hello and welcome back for the last day of the Simon Says Stamp Summer Series here on my blog!!
I can't believe we are on the final day! I have had so much fun sharing these cards and techniques with you this week, and I really hope they have inspired you to pull out those awesome crafty supplies and get creative!! ;)

For my final card, I wanted to create my own patterned paper. But instead of using paper I decided to use vellum, and I love the end result.
I stamped and heat embossed on a piece of 40lb vellum from Bazzill and then I coloured the whole thing in with Faber-Castell big brush markers.

Thank You

Supplies:

You can see how I created the vellum piece in the video below:

Once I completed the vellum piece, I created the rest of the card by doing the following:

- I cut a window out of the front of the card and glued the vellum piece behind it. The vellum piece was first adhered to a piece of white cardstock and cut so it would fit.
- I added white dashed lines around the outside of the rectangle opening to mimic stitching.
- I stamped my sentiment on the tilted banner and adhered it over the vellum opening.
- I coloured the wood butterfly with the same colours I used on the vellum and adhered that to the left side of the banner.
- To finish the card, I added sparkle to the butterfly with a Wink of Stella glitter marker and then added some white dots to the middle of the flowers and around the blue area on the stamped vellum.

Simon Says Stamp Summer Series - Day Four!

Hello and welcome back for day four of my Simon Says Stamp Summer Series here on my blog!
I can't believe that the week is almost over already!!

For today's card, I wanted to challenge myself to use two things with my Simon Says Stamp product: something I love and something that I wouldn't normally use.

The love item: Glitter, which I love as long as it isn't messy and coming off of the card all over the recipient. Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter - the best glitter I have ever used, by far!! This stuff burnishes on awesome and does not come off at all! ;) So I decided to use a lot of it, lol!! ;)

The normally wouldn't use item: Gold. I openly admit that I have never been a big fan of the colour yellow gold. I prefer white gold, silver, platinum... well you get the idea! ;)
But I have been seeing so much gold lately and have actually been liking how it looks, so I decided it was time that I made something with it.

The result of my product choices (I wish the photos could show how glittery this actually is) -

You

Supplies:

A little about how I created this card:

- I adhered a piece of heavyweight white cardstock to a strip of Be Creative tape and then left the adhesive backing on the side not adhered to the cardstock.
- I positioned my butterfly face down on the adhesive covered side of the tape, held it in place with a piece of washi tape and then ran it through my Big Shot machine. Because the cardstock was thick, the die didn't cut all the way through, so everything was still in one piece.  The die only cut out the butterfly shape through the adhesive backing  - an awesome tip I learned from Jennifer McGuire ;)
- I slowly peeled away the butterfly with tweezers, making sure to leave the inside pieces still adhered to the cardstock piece.
- I then shook on Dark Gold Glitter Ritz glitter and burnished it in, creating a pretty gold, glittery butterfly.
- Once I had the butterfly done, I carefully removed the rest of the adhesive backing and shook on Cool Highlight Glitter Ritz glitter and burnished that in. And voila! A completely glitter covered, one layer piece with a butterfly in the middle.
- To add the sentiment, I stamped the word 'you' very carefully with Archival Jet Black Ink. One thing to remember when stamping a sentiment on glitter is to use one that has thin lines and press down gently when you stamp it. That will help it 'bleed' less into the glitter.
- I matted the glitter piece onto a strip of Steel Grey cardstock and adhered it to the front of a white top folding card base.
- For a little more detail I added black gems to the center of the butterfly and two thin strips of American Crafts Pow glitter paper to the bottom.

Please let me know if you have any questions on how I created this card. :-)

Simon Says Stamp Summer Series - Day Three!

Hello and welcome to day three of the Simon Says Stamp Summer Series here on my blog!

For today's card, I wanted to create a card that combined multiple dies and had a fun window in the front.
So I used three of the new butterfly dies from the Simon Says Stamp summer release and combined them to create this fun card.

Thinking of You

Supplies:

The large butterfly was diecut out of the front of the card to create the window and then I adhered the smaller butterflies on the inside of the card with dimensional adhesive.
I also did a fun watercolour with distress inks on the solid butterflies to give the butterfly a fun colour on it's wings.

To see how I created this card, you can watch the video below:
