Happy Birthday | Stencil Tracing & 20% Sale!

Hello and happy Saturday!!

Today I have a card to share that features some exclusive products from Simon Says Stamp. One of my favourite products from the last release was the Balloons and Patterns stencils. It's a set of four with some great balloon images and a couple of accent stencils that include diagonal stripes and hearts.

For this card, I used the stencils with a black Pitt Artist Pen from Faber-Castel to trace the balloons onto a watercolor card front. Tracing a stencil like this is so quick and easy and you don't have to worry about doing any masking since you can decide exactly where you want to trace.

Once I had them on the card front, I went around the inside edge of each balloon with different colours of Derwent Inktense pencils. I created a small border around the inside and made it really dark and full of colour by pressing down really hard on the pencil. I then used a watercolour brush to pull the colour from the outside into the center area of the balloon. I love the darker to lighter effect colouring them this way provides.

After I finished the balloons, I traced some hearts from the heart stencil and coloured them in with the same colours that I used on the balloons. I added some sequins and gems and went around the edges of the balloons with my clear Wink of Stella marker.

I cut apart the happy birthday sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Friendship Messages stamp set and stamped it underneath the balloons. To complete the card, I added balloon strings and white accents to the balloons with a white Uniball Signo gel pen.
