Sending Hugs | Embossed Butterflies

Today I have a card to share that features a couple of great stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp (Friendship Messages and Butterfly Friends) and my new favourite embossing powder from Ranger called Turquoise Antiquities!

If you're familiar with and love the Verdigris Antiquities embossing powder from Ranger, then you'll love the Turquoise! It is the most amazing aqua colour with lots of little platinum silver specks mixed in. And because it has a platinum silver colour in it, it goes perfectly with the Liquid Platinum embossing powder from Ranger. ;)

To create the card, I stamped the solid butterfly three times with Versamark ink and then heat embossed the top and bottom one with Liquid Platinum embossing powder and the middle one with Turquoise Antiquities embossing powder.

When I did the stamping, I made sure to leave enough space for the sentiment, which I cut apart and then stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I knew I wanted a thin border on either side of the stamped piece, but I couldn't decide what colour I wanted. I ended up embossing a piece of cardstock with the same Turquoise embossing powder, cut it into strips and adhered it on either side.

To complete the card and add a little detail and dimension, I added a Tim Holtz Heart Charm to the center butterfly and tied some black string through the charm to look like butterfly tendrils. I also added a few pearls around the butterflies to fill in some of the white space. ;)
